  EAI Asia Security Initiative Working Paper No. 3
The latest working paper by Dong Sun Lee and Sung Eun Kim is available now on the EAI website. This working paper entitled "Ties That Bind? Assessing the Impact of Economic Interdependence on East Asian Alliances" looks at the important relationship between economic ties and alliances in East Asia, offering important policy implications.

The 6th Smart Talk Seminar with L.Gordon Flake
The EAI held its 6th Smart Talk on February 23, 2010 with L. Gordon Flake, Executive Director of the Mansfield Foundation under the title of "Summitry and the Six Party Talks: U.S. Policy toward North Korea." Together with leading experts from South Korea, Mr. Flake discussed in depth the main issues in resolving the nuclear crisis.

The 10th InfraVision Forum
On February 12, 2010, the EAI was honored to host the 10th InfraVision Forum with Toshinori Shigeie, Ambassador of Japan to South Korea. Ambassador Shigeie covered greatly the current issues in ROK-Japan relations and prospects for the future.

EAI · Asia Foundation Workshop
The EAI together with the Asia Foundation's Center for U.S.-Korea Policy hosted a workshop on February 22, 2010. Under the title of "Influence and Role of Domestic Stakeholders on the U.S.-ROK Alliance," the workshop brought together scholars from South Korea and the United States to present and discuss their papers that focused on the influence of different domestic actors on the alliance.

New Publication: Collective Violence in Indonesia by Ashutosh Varshney
The EAI’s fourth book publication in English is available now. Based upon a collection of articles from a special edition (Vol. 8, No.3) of the EAI’s Journal of East Asian Studies, this book seeks to assess and explain the pattern of collective violence in Indonesia.

2010 EAI Social Sciences Lecture Series
From March 3 to March 29, the EAI is holding eight seminars under the title of "Youth in History: From the Enlightenment Era to the Age of Complexity." Professor Young-Sun Ha (Seoul National University) is leading the lectures that bring together promising students to enhance their understanding of the social sciences.
