EAI Issue Briefing Middle Power Initiative 2013-01
As part of EAI's Middle Power Diplomacy Initiative (MPDI), which began in the beginning of this year, EAI has published MPDI Issue Briefing No.1. Supported by the MacArthur Foundation, MPDI focuses on: 1) Identifying middle powers; 2) Exploring issues for middle-power network collaboration to enhance U.S.-China cooperation; and 3) Constructing U.S.-China collaboration-friendly middle-power networks. In Issue Briefing No.1 titled "China's Perceptions and Policies Toward India," Byung Kwang Park, a senior research fellow at the Institute for National Security Strategy, explores the implications of the "strategic and cooperative partnership" forged between China and India. Furthermore, he argues that the U.S. "pivot to Asia" strategy plays a significant role in shaping China's engagement policy toward India.
