  2013 EPIK Young Leaders Conference
On August 8, EAI held EPIK Young Leaders Conference under the theme of "When is Conflict Better than Cooperation." Five papers were presented at the final essay competition followed by panel discussions with previous EPIK award recipients and EAI interns.

EAI Fellow, Professor Patrick Köllner (Director, Institute of Asian Studies at German Institute of Global and Area Studies; Professor, University of Hamburg), examines the role of informal institutions in the exercise of political power, with a regime focus to study the Chinese Communist Party.

EAI interviewed Won Gon Park of Handong Global University on U.S. defense budget cuts and its implications for South Korea. He provided his evaluation on implications of U.S. military reorganization for changing security environment in Northeast Asia.
Roundtable Discussion for Middle Power Diplomacy: Ambassador of Brazil to Korea
EAI invited Brazilian Ambassador to Korea, Edmundo Sussumu Fujita, on August 19 to discuss Brazil's foreign policy and recommendations for South Korea as a middle power in the region. Ambassador Fujita emphasized that South Korea needs to broaden its scope beyond regional or G2 perspectives and try to set an example in implementing its ideas instead of merely suggesting them.

Web Publication of "South Korean Local Election Panel Study of 2010"
Inter-university Consortium for Political and Social Research (ICPSR) at the University of Michigan published the data files for EAI's research "South Korean Local Election Panel Study: Nationwide Two Waves, 2010" on its website. This study examines vote determinants and dynamics of change in voter preferences during the local election in 2010.
EAI-CISAC Conference on Future Direction for ROK-U.S. Nuclear Cooperation
On September 13, EAI together with Center for International Security and Cooperation (CISAC) at Stanford University will hold a conference. At this event, EAI's ROK-U.S. Strategic Cooperation for Global Nuclear Governance Research Team and counterparts from CISAC will present on Future Direction for ROK-U.S. Nuclear Cooperation.
