With tensions growing on the Korean Peninsula following North Korea's third nuclear test, this timely EAI commentary examines the policy options facing the Park Geun-hye administration. In understanding what the Kim Jong-un regime's motives are for conducting its nuclear test, this commentary emphasizes a complex approach utilizing military, economic, and political countermeasures will induce North Korea away from its current path of conflict and confrontation.

 On March 18, 2012, the EAI invited for its Smart Talk Forum Scott Snyder who is Senior Fellow for Korea Studies at the Council of Foreign Relations, and Director of the Center for U.S.-Korea Policy at the Asia Foundation.
