EAI Working Paper on the Future of North Korea
In "Path to an Advanced North Korea by 2032: Building a Complex Networked State", Professor Young Sun Ha, Seoul National University, believes that Pyongyang's commitment to its military-first politics and nuclear weapons will not bring about the "strong and prosperous state" that it has declared as its central goal. As part of the Future of North Korea Panel's working paper series, this paper explains that North Korea can only survive if it gives up its nuclear military-first politics and embraces reform and opening. However, embarking upon such a path will also require policy changes from among its neighbors and concerned countries.

EAI Fellow Steve Chan Working Paper
In "Money Politics: International Credit/Debt as Credible Commitment," Professor Steve Chan, University of Colorado, Boulder, seeks to answer why China and the United States have entered into a relationship as creditor and debtor respectively. As potential rivals, such a relationship places the security of both sides at risk. Chan believes that this relationship actually signifies a mutual reassurance to maintain cordial relationship as well as representing a commitment by both Beijing and Washington.
