South Korea’s relationship with China has grown in importance as economic activity between the two countries has boomed. However, this economic partnership has yet to translate into closer security ties as China’s position toward the Korean Peninsula remains unclear given its past reactions to North Korean provocations. Using the Korean people’s perceptions of China as a guide, EAI President Sook Jong Lee analyzes the unique state of ROK-China relations and provides ideas on how the relationship can further develop in the future.
