On August 14, 2012, the EAI held its EPIK Young Leaders Conference under the theme of "Drawing New Lines: Values, Institutions, and Governance." This essay competition is organized by EPIK Spiders, an academic circle created by EAI intern graduates.

EAI Working Paper on the Future of U.S.-China Relations
In this working paper, Dong Sun Lee forecasts what the character will be for U.S.-China military relations in 2025. He uses both international relations theory and empirical evidence to predict that separate spheres of influence will emerge in East Asia.

EAI Issue Briefing on Japan's Domestic Politics
In this issue briefing, Junghwan Lee looks into the current difficulties of the Democratic Party of Japan (DPJ). He believes that much of the political trouble stems from the lack of a strong foundation within the DPJ that goes beyond an anti-Koizumi framework.

Selected Scholars for EAI Fellows Program 2012-13
The EAI is pleased to announce the selection results for the EAI Fellows Program 2012-13. The selected five scholars will make visits to participating institutions in East Asia.
2012 EAI Social Sciences Lecture Series
From September 20 to November 14, the EAI will be holding eight seminars under the title of "Historical Transformation of the East Asian Regional Order and the Korean Peninsula: From Tianxia to Complexity." EAI Chairman Young-Sun Ha, former professor of International Relations Department at Seoul National University will be leading the lectures that bring together promising students to enhance their understanding of the social sciences.
Homecoming for Interns 2012
On August 14, EAI held its Homecoming for Interns event. Bringing together former and current interns, this event featured musical entertainment by EAI interns and staff. There were also remarks from Professor Sook-Jong Lee (President of EAI), Professor Byung-Kook Kim (Chancellor of Korea National Diplomatic Academy), Professor Stephan Haggard (University of California, San Diego), and Professor Jeong-Woo Koo (Sungkyunkwan University).
New Edition of Journal of East Asian Studies
The latest edition of the Journal of East Asian Studies has been released. This new edition includes five articles on Japan's China policy, labor market reform in Japan and South Korea, organizational life in North Korea, South Korea's approach to foreign aid, and North Korea's reaction to ROK-U.S. military exercises.
