  Smart Q&A on Kim Jong-un and the Future of the Korean Peninsula
As Kim Jong-un strengthens his official control of North Korea, the long-term stability of the Korean Peninsula is of increasing focus. The EAI conducted an interview in Korean with Dr. Sung-bae Kim (Institute for National Security Strategy) who provided his insights into the latest leadership changes in North Korea and the role South Korea can play. EAI Contribution to ISN Security Watch
The EAI's Yang Gyu Kim and Stephen Ranger contributed an article on North Korea to the International Relations and Security Network (ISN), an online project of the Center for Security Studies at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology. In this article, the authors examine why North Korea pursued the Leap Day Deal shortly before announcing that it would launch a satellite.

EAI Working Paper on Humanitarian Intervention
In "The Responsibility to Protect (R2P) in Humanitarian Emergencies: From Libya to North Korea?" Shin-wha Lee examines the limits to humanitarian intervention particularly within the context of R2P. Lee believes that there should be efforts undertaken by the international community to expand the scope of R2P in a way that does not undermine its applicability in the real world.

EAI Working Paper on Chinese Public's Security Perceptions
Joo-youn Jung in "Rising China and the Chinese Public's Security Perceptions," uses recent public opinion data of Chinese citizens conducted by the EAI and the Asiatic Research Institute (ARI) at Korea University to explore their perceptions toward major security issues. Some of the findings from this paper show that Chinese citizens have an ambivalent yet positive perception of their security environment.

EAI President Sook-Jong Lee on World Bank Changes
Following the appointment of Jim Young Kim as the next president of the World Bank, EAI President Sook-Jong Lee provides her views on this issue in the Expert Roundup at the Council on Foreign Relations. In this article she outlines the reasons for why this appointment is a positive move for the World Bank.
Forum on Preparing for Korean Unification
To celebrate the 10th anniversary of its founding, the EAI held the Forum on Preparing for Korean Unification. This event, which was supported by JoongAng Ilbo and the Ministry of Unification, brought together a wide range of experts, scholars, and civic groups who all share a deep interest and concern for the reunification of the Korean Peninsula.
EAI Fellows Working Paper on Development Models
In this paper, EAI Fellow Yu Zheng compares the development models of China and India and considers why they differ so much considering that both countries are two similarly endowed high-growth economies. He argues that China's authoritarian regime allows for it to push forward more radical economic reforms yet creates a credibility problem for the government. India by contrast has the credibility but lacks the capacity to change the status quo.
