The EAI ranked #65 out of the Top 150 Think Tanks Worldwide in the 2012 Global Go-To Think Tank Index Rankings compiled by The Think Tanks and Civil Societies Program (TTCSP) at the International Relations Program, University of Pennsylvania. In other categories, the EAI was #25 out of the Top 70 Security and International Affairs Think Tanks, #17 out of the Top 45 Think Tanks in China, India, Japan, and the Republic of Korea, #49 out of the Top 60 Think Tanks with Outstanding Policy-Oriented Public Policy Research Programs, and #85 out of the Top 100 Non-US Think Tanks Worldwide.
For this index, 6,603 institutions from every region of the world and 1,947 individuals from 120 countries were invited to participate in the nomination process. A total of 1,647 think tanks were chosen and organized into 38 categories. This index was further refined and organized by a group of experts. In the final process, 171 think tanks were selected as the world’s top think tanks.
