EAI-Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Australia Closed Roundtable

On February 25, representatives from Australia’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) visited EAI to meet EAI experts on middle power diplomacy. This roundtable was held on a request from the DFAT to meet with EAI experts and discuss not only EAI’s Middle Power Diplomacy Initiative project, but also various issues related to cooperation model between South Korea and Australia with regard to middle power diplomacy and MIKTA. Participants discussed the role of MIKTA in three issue areas of security, trade, and development cooperation in the context of the U.S.-China relations; Australia’s regional policy, and implications for the regional middle powers in the case of the unification of the Korean peninsula.
