The East Asia Institute (EAI) held a closed-door roundtable meeting on May 3rd, 2024, with the Belfer Center at Harvard Kennedy School, focusing on "Reducing DPRK Nuclear Risks." Seven security experts from EAI and the Belfer Center engaged in in-depth discussions on the future of U.S. extended deterrence after the U.S. presidential election, viable policy directions for freezing North Korea's nuclear capabilities, and strategies to provide security assurances to the non-nuclear DPRK regime. Additionally, they examined the implications of the Ukraine war and the Israel–Hamas war on the Korean Peninsula.
