"The Worst Scenario for a Happy Ending? Analyzing U.S.-China Relations" |
Traditional international relations theories argue that grand shift among major powers leads to competition and conflict, which may escalate to a military clash, even to war. Today's world is witnessing a shift in the power relations between the United States and People's Republic of China (PRC), which is usually described as "cooperation and competition." Prof. David W. Kearn, Jr. of St. John's University examines potential mechanisms or pathways to military conflict between the U.S. and China based on prevailing approaches from International Relations Theory. He argues that the analyses will be useful to understand how best to avoid conflict. Prof. Kearn submitted this paper as part of his research activities for the EAI Fellows Program. |
