2025 EAI Public Poll

on the 21st Presidential Election and East Asia

The East Asia Institute (EAI) has released visualized results from the 2025 EAI Public Opinion Poll on East Asia. The findings reveal sharp partisan divides in voting motivations and political issue perceptions following the 21st presidential election, with progressive voter consolidation and signs of conservative disengagement. This polarization also extends to perceptions of electoral integrity.

The survey also highlights growing public concern over U.S.–China strategic rivalry, protectionism, and technological competition, along with rising calls for the new administration to strengthen economic diplomacy and address key foreign policy challenges. Noteworthy results include a significant increase in favorable views of Japan, heightened expectations for improved inter-Korean and Korea–China relations, and strong support for China to play a more active role in addressing North Korean provocations and promoting denuclearization.
