East Asia Institute (EAI) is hosting the KF-EAI Korea Friendship project, sponsored by Korea Foundation (KF) and Samgyang Holdings Corporation, for international students residing in Korea.

 

On September 7th, the first lecture of Korea Friendship Academicus lecture series was given by Prof. Kwak Eun-Ah, Gayageum virtuoso. Prof. Kwak expounded on the origin and development of Korean traditional music with relation to history and class difference, as well as presented demonstrations and performances of various traditional instruments including Gayageum, Taepyeongso, and Daegeum.

 

In the 1-hour Q&A session following the lecture, the students were able to acquire deeper understanding of the diverse tradition of Korean music.
