The East Asia Institute (EAI) and Korea Foundation (KF) launched an educational program for international students known as the “KF-EAI Korea Friendship”.

The seventh lecture of the Korea Friendship Academicus program, consisting of an eight-part lecture series exploring the various aspects of the Korean society, was held on July 9, 2013. Professor Chaesung Chun of Seoul National University gave a lecture on “National Security and Foreign Affairs in South Korea: North Korea Dilemma and South Korea’s Strategy”, suggesting the multidimensional nature of the North Korean nuclear crisis and the obstacles South Korea has to overcome to resolve the crisis and discussing future policy vis-à-vis North Korea and the requirement of a new unification methodology. Professor Chun further explained South Korea’s strategic tasks in East Asia.

The subsequent Q&A session allowed Korea Friendship students to freely ask questions about South Korea’s perception on unification and the pre-modern East Asian regional organization.
