The East Asia Institute (EAI) and Korea Foundation (KF) launched an educational program for international students known as the “KF-EAI Korea Friendship”.

The sixth lecture of the Korea Friendship Academicus program, consisting of an eight-part lecture series exploring the various aspects of the Korean society, was held on July 4, 2013. Executive Director, Yvonne Yoon-Hee Kim, of the Asia Society Korea Center gave a lecture on “How to Overcome the Culture Shock: Understanding the Living Culture of Korea”, defining culture and suggesting some possible examples of daily culture shock based on work experience at Columbia University and the Asia Society. Executive Director Kim thoroughly explained how to overcome the culture shock.

The subsequent Q&A session allowed Korea Friendship students to freely ask questions about how to leap over the cultural barrier, approach Koreans more closely and how foreign cultures are viewed in Korea.
