JEAS Volume 16, Issue 1 "Contentious Elites in China: New Evidence and Approaches"
"The Inaugural Issue of JEAS at Cambridge University Is Here!"

EAI is excited to announce that the first issue of the Journal of East Asian Studies at Cambridge University Press has been published. This special issue entitle "Contentious Elites in China: New Evidence and Approaches," takes a look at the factional dynamics that are driving politics in the post-Mao era through the use of new methods including social network analysis and agent-based modeling. The following topics are addressed in this inaugural issue: patronage networks among the Chinese elite, faction recruitment, term limits and power sharing, coalition building in China's policy-making, elite circulation in the Chinese Communist Party, and conditions under which elite conflict arises. This collection of articles exemplifies the mission of JEAS : to present cutting-edge research on substantive issues of importance in our understanding of East Asia.
