"2016 Nuclear Security Summit: Half Success, Half Failure"
On March 31 - April 1, 2016, the fourth and final Nuclear Security Summit (NSS) in its current format was held. According to EJR Cho, the results of the 2016 NSS were mixed. The most significant achievement of the 2016 NSS was raising collective efforts to ensure Iranian compliance with the recently-concluded nuclear deal. However, Cho highlights the following shortcomings: no meaningful outcome regarding the North Korean nuclear problems was reached and it failed to introduce a system to maintain labels on radiological sources in accordance with the current international framework. Cho concludes by suggesting a future challenge which is sustaining the influence of the NSS and proposes the idea of it being regularized within the framework of the UN. pc   mobile
