[Korea Global Forum 2014] “Trust, Peace, and Prosperity: Path to Korean Unification”

  • 2014-09-25
On September 25 and 26, the Korea Global Forum 2014 (KGF2014) was launched under the title of “Trust, Peace, and Prosperity: Path to Korean Unification” at Hotel Shilla Seoul. The Korea Global Forum is an annual international forum hosted by the Ministry of Unification to promote 1.5 Track collaborations and rise international awareness on issues surrounding Korean unification. This year, the Forum was organized by East Asia Institute. During the two-day event, the possible implications of Korean Unification and a new regional architecture which would lay the foundation for peace and prosperity through trust-building were widely explored. On the first day, which began with the Minister of Unification, Dr. Ryoo Kihl-jae’s keynote speech, international scholars and experts representing key partners of South Korea—United State, China, Japan, Russia, Australia, Singapore, United Kingdom, Germany, and France—discussed the challenges and opportunities the South Korean government faces in implementing its Trustpolitik. On the second day of the Forum, Dr. Kurt Campbell, former U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for East Asia and Pacific Affairs, gave a public lecture on “Changing Global Attitudes toward Korean Unification.”
