Asia Democracy Research Network Tenth Workshop

  • 2019-12-05

As part of the Asia Democracy Research Network (ADRN) program, the East Asia Institute (EAI) held the 10th National Workshop on December 5-6, 2019 in Bali, Indonesia. During the workshop, ADRN members attended the 12th Bali Democracy Forum with experts from various fields and presented intermediary research findings for the 2019-2020 “Social Media, Disinformation and Democracy” research project during ADRN independent workshop sessions. Participants presented their country cases and exchanged feedback and recommendations. Participants also discussed on the topic, “Defining Threats to Global Democracy Promotion,” during the working lunch session.

ADRN was launched in 2013 under EAI’s leadership in order to analyze challenges against democracy in Asia and promote cooperation on pragmatic research projects that can contribute to democracy promotion and consolidation in the region. Democracy-related research think tanks from fourteen Asian countries, including Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, Mongolia, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, and Thailand are participating in this network. EAI is currently serving as a secretariat of the ADRN.
