[제13차 ADRN 지역회의] “수평적 책임성 연구 및 민주주의 정상회의 의제 확산 방안” (3/31 금 - 4/1 토)

아시아민주주의연구네트워크(Asia Democracy Research Network: ADRN) 사업의 일환으로, 동아시아연구원(East Asia Institute: EAI)은 3월 31일(금)부터 4월 1일(토)까지 서울에서 제13차 ADRN 지역회의를 개최했습니다. 이번 회의에 참여한 ADRN 멤버 기관들은 2022년 하반기 시작된 수평적 책임성(horizontal accountability) 연구의 중간 성과를 발표하고 의견을 교환했습니다. 아울러 3월 30일 개최되는 민주주의 정상회의와 인도-태평양 지역 민주주의의 연계 방안, 북한 인권 문제, 미얀마 민주주의를 위한 연대 등의 주제를 논의하는 특별 세션을 진행했습니다. ADRN 창설 10주년을 기념하는 본 회의에는 아시아 14개국 23개 기관의 멤버 및 아시아민주주의네트워크(Asia Democracy Network: ADN), 미국 민주주의기금(National Endowment for Democracy), 인도네시아 평화와 민주주의 연구소(Institute for Peace and Democracy), 카네기 국제평화재단 유럽센터(Carnegie Europe) 등이 함께 참여했습니다.

 

ADRN은 2013년 동아시아연구원의 주도하에 구성되어, 아시아 지역의 민주주의가 당면한 과제를 분석하고 실용적인 공동 연구를 통해 역내 민주주의 확산 및 공고화에 기여하는 것을 목표로 활동하고 있습니다. 방글라데시, 인도, 인도네시아, 일본, 한국, 말레이시아, 몽골, 미얀마, 네팔, 파키스탄, 필리핀, 스리랑카, 대만, 태국 등 14개 국가의 민주주의 관련 싱크탱크가 참여하고 있으며, EAI는 ADRN의 사무국을 맡고 있습니다.
