The East Asia Institute (EAI) and Genron NPO held an online conference on February 15, 2021 titled Korea-Japan Security Dialogue (KJSD). Both countries’ experts in the field of foreign affairs and security gathered with an objective to cover security issues in the Northeast Asian region. Subjects such as the Northeast Asia’s regional security risks, the aspirations of realizing peace in the region and the Biden administration’s policy toward China and North Korea were debated in the dialogue, in addition to discussing the future path for Korea-Japan security cooperation. Through the Korea-Japan Security Dialogue, the experts of the two countries agreed that there is a need for security cooperation among multiple countries, as well as on a Korea-Japan level, to achieve prevention of further escalation of the conflict between the United States and China and the denuclearization of North Korea.
