EAI is pleased to announce that the first 2017 issue of the Journal of East Asian Studies has been released. The following topics are discussed in depth: vote buying in Indonesia, Northeast Asia and the International Criminal Court, North Korea's pseudo-state enterprises in the early 2000s, media coverage of activist groups in Japan and Korea, regulatory capture in the Sewol Ferry tragedy, and the conditions that facilitate citizens taking costly actions against government corruption.
