"Reading Between the Lines of Kim Jong Un's Proposals"
The 7th Congress of the Worker’s Party of Korea, which was held in Pyongyang last May from the 6th-10th, was the first such Congress in 36 years. North Korea officially announced the consolidation of Kim Jong Un’s monolithic leadership system during the event while also revealing the leadership’s vision for the future in a ‘brilliant blueprint.’ Ha Young-Sun, Chairman of EAI (Professor Emeritus at Seoul National University), looked at these remarks and put forth the opinion that the blueprint contains nothing that was not already in the New Year’s Address, stating that if North Korea chooses to pursue the Byungjin policy of pursuing nuclear weapons and economic development then their future will indeed be dark. Professor Ha emphasized that if Kim Jong Un wishes to build a glittering future for North Korea, he must leave behind 19th century security theory and create a new Byungjin line that is suitable to 21st century security theory and which is not founded in the pursuit of nuclear weapons. pc   mobile
