Northeast Asia Security Dialogue (NASD) Guidelines for Student Applicants

Along with Center for International and Strategic Studies (CISS) of Peking University, the East Asia Institute (EAI) will hold its third round of the Northeast Asia Security Dialogue (NASD) in November 2010. Planned to be conducted in Beijing, the forum will consist of the Students Forum and the Experts Panel, to be held on November 21 and 22, 2010, respectively.

 

While the topic varies each year, the subject of this round’s forum will be the “Cheonan Attack and its Impact on the Denuclearization Process of the Korean Peninsula.” In response, the Students Forum will consist of three delegates each from China and Korea who will present their papers and participate in discussions pertaining to the given topic.

 

The EAI welcomes applications from graduate students enrolled in universities in Korea who wish to participate in presenting their papers and sharing future policy directions of China and Korea toward the Northeast Asian Security. The chosen NASD 2010 delegates will be provided with ample time and opportunities of discussion with other Korean delegates to complete their papers before presenting them at the NASD. The NASD will offer students a valuable experience in comprehending the international relations and foreign policies of the two countries.

Documents for Submission

 

First Round (Deadline: July 18, 2010)

 

1. Resume (written in Korean)

2. Cover letter

3. Research Proposal, fulfilling the following requirements

-does not exceed 5 A4-pages in length

-written in Korean

-pertains to the topic on the “Cheonan Attack and its Impact on the Denuclearization Process of the Korean Peninsula”

 

Short-listed applicants will be notified with further details of the second round interview on July 20, 2010, which will begin on July 22, 2010.
