[Global NK Interview] North Korean Human Rights Issues and the Role of South Korea as a Global Pivotal State

Rep. Tae Yong-ho, a North Korean defector and a member of the National Assembly from People Power Party, argues that the polarization in South Korean domestic politics prevents the government from making any meaningful progress in addressing DPRK human rights problem. Dr. Lee Shin-wha, the ROK Ambassador for International Cooperation on North Korean Human Rights, highlights that humanitarian aid is essential for the survival of the ordinary North Koreans and urges the South Korean government to take a more proactive role in addressing the DPRK human rights issues in order to strengthen its position as a “Global Pivotal State.”
