Asia Democracy Research Network Third Workshop
"Asians Building Asian Democracy"
The Asia Democracy Research Network (ADRN), in which EAI takes a leading role, held its third workshop in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia on August 15th and 16th. The workshop was attended by representatives and scholars from ADRN member organizations, observers from nascent think-tanks from around Asia, as well as representatives of various international organizations and foundations located in Mongolia, and these participants engaged in discussions during sessions that announced the findings of ADRN’s research produced over the last two years. Participants also discussed ways to turn think-tank policy recommendations into real policy in their various countries. ADRN was founded in 2013 with the goals of analyzing the threats to democracy in Asia and producing and disseminating practical research that could contribute to transitions to and the consolidation of democracy in Asia. Think-tanks such as EAI from eight countries, including Japan, Taiwan, Mongolia, Thailand, Indonesia, India, and Sri Lanka, are participating in this network. Currently EAI President Dr. Sook Jong Lee and Dr. Kaustuv Bandyopadhyay from the Indonesian organization Participatory Research in Asia (PRIA) are serving as the leaders of ADRN.
