Drawing on public poll data from both institutions, participants analyzed the trends in South Korean and U.S. public perceptions of each other and projected the future trajectory of bilateral relations. [ADRN Working Paper] Vertical Accountability in Asian Countries: Indonesia, The Philippines, South Korea

As part of the Asia Democracy Research Network (ADRN) research project on vertical accountability, EAI published three interim reports on the cases of Indonesia, the Philippines, and South Korea. Each country shows different performance of conducting free and fair elections, and securing space for media outlets and civil society. For reinforcing the responsibility of governments, the reports underscore necessary reforms such as enhancing representation of public opinion by political parties, abolishing clientelism, and ensuring the susceptibility of electoral management bodies.
