Graham Fletcher, First Assistant Secretary of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Australia, visited EAI to participate in a roundtable discussion with EAI experts on October 27, 2015. This roundtable was held upon the request of the Australian Embassy to discuss various diplomatic issues surrounding Asia. Participants discussed following issues: South Korea’s and Australia’s stances on the South China Sea disputes; rise of China and middle power diplomacy; political implications of 2016 U.S. presidential election for the East Asian region; differing positions of the neighboring countries on the Korean unification; and Korea-Japan relations.
