[Korea Global Forum 2014] ECFR-EAI “East Asia after Unification of the Korean Peninsula”

On June 24, a joint conference organized by East Asia Institute (EAI) and the European Council on Foreign Relations (ECFR) convened in Tokyo, Japan, on the issue of “East Asia after Unification of the Korean Peninsula.” The conference invited European policy exerts and former officials who visited the EU Delegation in Tokyo as representatives of the ECFR. During the first session, the European and Korean delegates discussed the lessons President Park Geun-Hye’s administration can take from the European experience and the fall of the Berlin Wall in her realization of Trustpolitik. The second session tested various hypothetical scenarios and outcomes of the Korean unification, bring the perspectives of India, Vietnam, Singapore, Malaysia, and other East and Southeast Asian countries that share the stakes of the unification.
