Conference on Keys to a Successful Presidency in South Korea

  • 2013-01-15
Despite the growth of a vibrant democracy in South Korea, there has yet to emerge a successful president who has had the respect from all quarters of society. The people continue to be disenchanted by the fact that the failure of a president reflects the failings of the political system itself. It is crucial then to understand that only with support from all elements in society can the presidency ever hope to exercise his or her leadership successfully. Given these challenges, the EAI in 2012 launched its research project on the “Presidency in South Korea 2013.” This project aimed to find the way in which the presidency can achieve success in the context of the incoming administration in 2013. In presenting the findings from this project, the EAI held a conference where members of the research panel discussed the issues and policy implications with scholars and the media.
