International Conference for the Dedication of the Pacific Rim Park on Jeju

On August 6, 2010, the East Asia Institute participated as a partner institution to the International Conference held (hosted) by the University of California, San Diego and the East Asia Foundation. Under the title of “Toward a Regional Security Architecture for Northeast Asia,” the conference was attended by more than twenty scholars from China, Korea, Japan, and the United States including Professors Stephan Haggard (UC, San Diego) and T.J. Pempel (UC, Berkley). Participants shared their views and insights into the Six-Party Talks and broader regional security issues. The EAI’s own MacArthur Asia Security Initiative Chair Professor Chaesung Chun and Future of North Korea Panel Chair Professor Dongho Jo were also in attendance.
