Twelfth Workshop of the “Strengthening Civil Society Organizations in Myanmar 2019-2020” Program: 2020 Burmese General Election Survey Research Program Remote Workshop "Feedback Workshop”
EAI has provided ongoing research and institutional assistance to the strengthening of civil society organizations and democracy promotion through the “Strengthening Civil Society Organizations in Myanmar” program since 2015. The twelfth workshop of the 2019-2020 program, “Promoting Civil Society Engagement in Myanmar’s Electoral Democracy,” was held online on January 25th, 2021.
In the twelfth workshop, discussions based on research’s key findings took place. Before students had the chance to participate in discussions, they improved their analyses of collected data and compiled the first draft of their report on key findings. Then, the students were engaged in this workshop with Professor Bae at Gyeongsang National University, Mr. Chunseok Kim and senior research fellow Dr. Hanwool Jeong at Hankook Research to receive feedback for their submitted works and discuss methods of writing a research report out of raw data and key findings.
Due to COVID-19, EAI has replaced the twelfth Yangon workshop which was scheduled in second half of 2020 to an online platform with remote workshop sessions. Till January 2021, EAI plans to hold further workshops on civil society engagement in electoral democracy in light of Myanmar’s November 2020 general. The “Strengthening Civil Society Organizations in Myanmar” program has been supported by the National Endowment for Democracy (NED) since 2015.
