The East Asia Institute is hosting the KF-EAI Korea Friendship project with sponsorship from the Korea Foundation (KF) and Samyang Holdings Corporation as an educational and networking opportunity for international students residing in Korea.
On September 18th, the sixth of eight lectures in the Academicus lecture series for exploring Korean society was held in the conference room of Eugene Investment & Securities. Literature critic, Shin Hyung Cheol, introduced three trends of post-2000’s Korean poetry, dividing them into lyrical, experimental, and political periods. Along with the major trends in Korean poetry at the time, he explained the characteristic sensibility and individuality of the poets through their poems.
Through the 1-hour Q&A session that followed the lecture, the students were able to hear his views on recent trends in Korean poetry and the characteristics of Korean literature in more depth.
