The EAI Center for Public Opinion Research (Chair, Nae-Young Lee) has published its issue briefing on "The Impact of North Korea's Artillery Strike on Public Opinion in South Korea." This survey reveals that 81.5% of respondents, which is the highest number since the survey first began in 2000, feel they are "concerned" about insecurity on the Korean Peninsula. It also shows that both progressives and conservatives in South Korea (which includes 72% of respondents) are critical of the government's response to North Korea's attack on Yeonpyeong Island. Furthermore, 68.6% of respondents now favor limited military retaliation. This report was originally released in Korean on November 28, 2010 and was also picked up by various international news outlets. This survey is now available in English.
