동아시아연구원(East Asia Institute: EAI)은 외교부 후원으로 “대미 공공외교 한미 싱크탱크 공동 세미나”를 개최했습니다. 본 세미나는 한국과 미국 양국에서 정책 아이디어를 생산하는 싱크탱크 간의 교류와 소통을 통해 민간 차원에서 상호이해와 협력의 기반을 다지는 데 취지가 있습니다. 한국의 민간 외교안보 전문가들과 미국의 민간 여론 주도층 및 핵심 전문가들이 직접 만나서 소통함으로써 한국 외교정책에 대한 의미를 효과적으로 전달하고, 공감을 이끌어내고자 합니다. 또한, 이끌어낸 공감을 바탕으로 한국에 대한 이해를 높이고 지속가능한 우호관계의 여건을 조성하는 것을 목적으로 기획되었습니다.

이에 동아시아연구원과 미국아시아연구소(National Bureau of Asian Research: NBR)와 함께 11월 29일 “Political and Economic Dimensions of the U.S.-ROK Relationship”과 “The Denuclearization of North Korea – Hopes Versus Reality”를 주제로 비공개 세미나를 진행했습니다.
