East Asia InstituteㆍKorea Foundation for Advanced StudiesㆍThe Genron NPO hosted the 4th Korea-Japan Future Dialogue on September 1-2, 2016. As a major result of the 4th Korean-Japanese Mutual Cognition Poll, EAI has announced that negative perceptions of both Korean and Japanese citizens towards each other have decreased, while positive perceptions have slightly increased. This year’s “4th Korean-Japan Future Dialogue” was a stage for “People to People Diplomacy”, where politicians, businessmen, scholars, media figures, and civilian experts joined together to discuss North Korea’s nuclear programme, Korea-Japan security cooperation, and possible ways to develop public civilian relations. The need for cooperative efforts to build regional peace in East Asia was also emphasized at the conference.

In 2013, the East Asia Institute, in cooperation with Japanese civilian think tank The Genron NPO(言論NPO) established a new civilian dialogue called the “Korea-Japan Future Dialogue." This dialogue was initiated in an effort to try to find an understanding of the cognition gap between the citizens of both countries.
