On May 5-7, 2019, the Council on Foreign Relations hosted the Council of Councils Eighth Annual Conference in Washington, D.C. Prof. Young-Sun Ha(Chairman, East Asia Institute: EAI), Prof. Sook-Jong Lee(Trustee, EAI), Prof. Yul Sohn(President, EAI), and Prof. Chaesung Chun (Director, EAI Center for National Security Studies) attended the annual conference as the EAI delegation. At the conference, participants discussed the future world order, nuclear weapons management, challenges from urbanization, human rights, environmental issues, and the conflict in Yemen.

Since its creation in 2011 by the Council on Foreign Relations(CFR), EAI has participated in the Council of Councils as a founding member representing South Korea. By participating in annual dialogues with other CoC members, EAI contributes to discussions on effective policy responses to various issues, threats and opportunities, and helps to promote cooperation amongst international think tanks.
