Field Trip

East Asia Institute (EAI) and Korea Foundation co-hosted on the KF-EAI Korea Friendship event, a series of educational and networking program, for international students residing in South Korea. There are 7 consecutive lectures on Korea and 1 field trip on Korean history.

Dr. Shin Hee-Kwon, a professor at the University of Seoul, lectured on Joseon Dynasty and the transition from Joseon to the Republic of Korea. In addition, in order to understand a country’s cultural standard, it is extremely important to understand the capital. Through the illustration of pictures, he explained that Jongno Cheonggyecheon was the capital of Joseon Dynasty. Prof. Hee-Kwon Shin and the participants of the KF-EAI Korea Friendship Program visited Hanyang Doseong Seoul City Wall, which is about to be listed as one of the UNESCO World Heritages. They visited Dongdaemun History & Culture Park Archaeological Site, The Five Flood Gates, Dongdaemun Gate, Ewha Mural Village, Naksan Mountain Trail, and Seoul City Wall Museum. Such comprehensive tour provided the participants with an opportunity to experience the atmosphere of the 600 year history of the Chosun Dynasty.
