The second workshop of the “2016 Strengthening Civil Society Organizations in Myanmar” program was held in Yangon, Myanmar between the 1st and 11th of September. This program is the continuation of the 2015 “Building Civil Society Capacity in Myanmar” program, and seeks to strengthen the capacity of nascent think tanks in Myanmar so that they may develop new and innovative policies and ideas to support the democratic transition currently underway in Myanmar. The focus of the second workshop is on supporting research capacity of the participating think-tanks, including government budget monitoring, participatory budgeting, basic approaches to social research, public opinion survey, quantitative methodology, statistical analysis, and usage of SPSS. The following partner organizations are working together with EAI on the 2016 program: Another Development, Naushawng Education Network, Open Myanmar Initiative, Salween Institute of Public Policy, Sandhi Governance Institute, Tagaung Institute of Political Studies, Yangon School of Political Science, and Yone Kyi Yar. And this program is made possible thanks to the generous support of the National Endowment for Democracy (NED) and the Open Society Foundation (OSF).
