The East Asia Institute is hosting the KF-EAI Korea Friendship project with sponsorship from the Korea Foundation (KF) and Samyang Holdings Corporation as an educational and networking opportunity for international students residing in Korea.
On September 16th, the fifth of eight lectures in the Academicus lecture series for exploring Korean society was held in the conference room of Eugene Investment & Securities. Mr. Jo Dong-Ho, a North Korea Specialist, talked about the necessity of Korean unification, while making reference to the example of unification set by Germany. He stressed that the German example shows that unification is indeed possible, and that the benefits of unification greatly outweigh the costs.
During the 1-hour Q&A session that followed, the students were able to hear more about his views on how North and South Koreans see unification and how unification can be accomplished through reconciliation and cooperation.
