The EAI interns participated in the Second U.S.-China Relations (UCR) Forum on Monday, May 9th, in the conference room at the East Asia Institute. The UCR Forum is held in relation to the UCR Briefing which is a fact sheet containing statements by the governments of the U.S. and China in an effort to track developments in U.S.-China relations.

The UCR forum is part of the internship training program and is designed to offer university students the opportunity to use the information they collect to in order to publish the UCR Briefing by making academic presentations and then engaging in discussions amongst themselves and with EAI research fellows. The theme of the Second UCR Forum was middle power diplomacy and the participants introduced their ideas of how South Korea as a middle power may be able to help facilitate dialogue between the two great powers of the U.S. and China on some of the most crucial issues in the Asia-Pacific region.
