Asia-Pacific Region
2nd Seminar on the
Future Vision of ROK-Japan Cooperation under the U.S.-China Strategic Competition
EAI launched a research project titled
“The Future Vision of ROK-Japan Cooperation under the U.S.-China Strategic
Competition” in order to redefine the goals of ROK-Japan bilateral relations and to
create an inclusive and sustainable regional order beyond ROK-Japan bilateral
relations. The Second meeting of the project was held online on March 11, 2021.
Korean and Japanese experts on international relations (security, economy and
culture) gave a presentation on and discussed the prospects of ROK- Japan-U.S.
relations in the context U.S.-China and ROK-China relations. Ishida Atsushi
(University of Tokyo) moderated the session and presentations were
made by Chun Chaesung (Seoul National University), Lee Dong Ryul
(Dongduk Women’s University), and Nishino Junya (Keio
University). This was followed a round of discussion by Kojo Yoshiko
(Aoyama Gakuin University), Nakanishi Hiroshi (Kyoto University), Asano Toyomi
(Waseda University), Mori Satoru (Hosei University), Ha
Young-Sun (Chairman of Board of Trustees, EAI), Sohn Yul (President of EAI),
Kim Byung-Yeon (Seoul National University), Kim Taekyoon
(Seoul National University), Lee Jung Hwan (Seoul
National University), and Park Jae Jeok (Hankuk University of
