Center for China Studies

The Center for China Studies pays special attention to the rapid rise and transformation of China and the changes that this has brought to the Korean Peninsula as well as to East Asia, and focuses on the systematic study of the true nature of these shifts. The Center endeavors to strengthen its fundamental research in order to “understand China correctly” and to develop practical policy alternatives. In doing so, a mid- and long-term research project titled “Rising China and New Civilization in the Asia Pacific” was launched last year, and the outcomes of this multi-year project will be published in a series of working papers and books in due course. The Center for China Studies also offers brief but timely analysis on various current issues related to China, regularly publishing columns and issue briefings. In addition, the Center endeavors to build a community that pursues a balanced combination of academic research and policy developments by bringing together China experts in government, business, and academia across South Korea and facilitating interactions among them.
