As the last part of the Korea Global Forum events, on December 10, EAI held an international conference with the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) under the title of “Preparing for Korean Unification.” At this conference, special address on ROK-U.S. relations by Assistant Secretary of State Daniel Russel was followed by Minister of Unification Ryoo Kihl-jae’s keynote address on “ROK-U.S. Cooperation in Preparing for Korean Unification.” With introductory remarks from Richard Armitage, former Deputy Secretary of State, Minister Ryoo emphasized that cooperation among neighboring countries, including the U.S. and support from the international community are indispensable in successful realizing unification of Korean peninsula. About 100 audiences, including East Asia specialists in Washington, diplomatic delegations, students, and press corps, attended this conference.
