As part of the Asia Democracy Research Network (ADRN) project, the East Asia Institute (EAI) held a webinar on “Supporting Good Governance in Korea through Development Cooperation” on July 13th. From this conference, domestic institutions conducting international exchange and support projects, and scholars studying international democratic support, were able to build networking. Furthermore, the experts gathered were those who have carried out major projects and policies related to various areas and issues such as reliable election administration, administrative support to help the establishment of good governance, inclusive development cooperation, enhancement of democratic resilience in times of disasters, and diverse education to an open civil society. These experts had the opportunity to understand each other’s business and gain perception on how to achieve better results through means of cooperation. The development cooperation within Korea actively accepts universal norms such as SDG 16 and the Humanitarian-Development-Peace (HDP) Nexus. In addition, an in-depth discussion was taken place regarding the strategies to move toward a sustainable and responsible direction in order to strengthen the governance capacity of partner countries.
